I didn't think this bay would look as wacky in person, but man is that strut brace something. After a day with these at the dealer, I'm sold. I would FOR SURE buy a new M3 if it was in the budget. They sound AMAZING in person.

Regardless of how good it is, a bunch of dumb internet commenters will tell you they don't want one because it has a turbo/isn't a proper M car/is too expensive/BMW has lost their way/ad nauseum

Wait till they drive one. Oh my god.

I love BMW. Even though I have just a lowly 328i, the F30 is far more than the internet gripers have made it out to be. This car makes me smile every day i look at it , and its wonderful to see the new M3/M4 turn out to be as good as we all knew they would be.

That's why I'm reserving my commentary. It's lighter and more powerful and has ceramic brakes. What's there not to like.

Despite my dislike for the F30 (because I like old school blah blah blah E30 master race) I would totally drive a manual one.

They won't drive one. They're too poor.

Stops like hell, goes like hell, sounds like hell, this car is evil.

My dealership has this performance event where you can sign a waiver and all this stuff and test drive some M cars and stuff.

All it needs is a 666 power output or something and we can brand it officially.

It is a very good design. It is a lot less soft looking than it's predecessor.

Too many doors :). Of course that is why I want an M4 even though I have no money what so ever. Oh well, it helps to have ambitions.

#M3forlyfe yo! It's good to want.

All the reviewers say it doesn't sound good, or "special". Who cares! Instant torque!!!

So not preferring turbo cars makes people dumb now...weird

I think it sounds amazing, personally.

Because boost.

so is the intercooler on this car connected to the cars ac system? the svt lightning had a refrigerant dump that would dump icy cold coolant into the system on wot for a certain amount of time. Is that why BMW uses liquid to air intercoolers? I wonder the cooling potential of this system. It obviously shortens the intake loop. This is for throttle response and boost lag reduction. Does it work? is it necessary(that much better)? don't the 335s use air to air intercoolers? i feel like i've seen those with big front mount intercoolers.

Who do I have to sleep with just to test drive one?

I don't think you understood the intent of my comment

335i has a regular old air intercooler. I THINK this has an air to water, where coolant/water is cooled through a radiator/heat exchanger like a front mount and sent to that little intercooler by the intake.

When I went with my dad to look at BMWs, the salesman offered us $10k off a 2013 M3 on the spot. It was very nice, but my dad ended up getting a decked out M235i instead. As nice as it is, if I was spending $80k+ on a car, I don't want a turbo six. Just like with the newer lower trim bimmers. If I'm spending $40k, I don't want a turbo four unless it's coming with manual AWD and a Subaru logo.

I drove one with me dad. He's not too poor but ended up going with a decked out M235i in Estoril blue that he had to wait a month and a half for. The salesman even offered $10k off the M3 on the spot. I'm too poor and have kids so I picked up a decked out CPO 335d. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car and I love turbo straight sixes, but as a DD, which 90% of these cars are, you're not going to be able to tell the difference between this and the other tricked out bimmers. And you could easily get one of the other turbo sixes to the same performance numbers for a lot less. The biggest difference will be your monthly payment. Which granted most people buying them don't care about. Although there was a guy trying to talk down the monthly payments on an M5 lease when I was there.

I was pretty apposed to this turbo six until I found out a stage one tune made 480RWHP.
But yeah, if I was spending 40k on a car I'd buy a 2014 STI hatch, white.

It's definitely a good engine. It's just if I'm putting out hat much cash on a car I want a different engine than comes in the cheaper cars. Nice to know my 335d family hauler is still putting out over 20 more torques than the new M3. Can't wait to tune this sucker.

That diesel 6 is monstrous.
